50 Cent, Chuck D, DJ Premier, and More Respond to the Demise of DJ Mister Cee  

The hip-hop community mourns DJ Mister Cee.   

Hot 97 reported on Wednesday (April 10) that 57-year-old Mister Cee, born Calvin LeBrun, died.  

Unknown cause of death.  

Mister Cee, a Brooklyn native, was Big Daddy Kane's official DJ and discovered The Notorious B.I.G. Biggie's 1994 debut Ready to Die was executive produced by Cee, aka The Finisher.  

On Rock The Bells last year, DJ Mister Cee called his Best of Biggie mixtape his favourite of his career.   

My life changed with that mixtape. It altered everything. Living my brand, he said.  

Hip-hop has offered many tributes and condolences.   

Mister Cee helped local artists like 50 Cent, who showed him affection after his untimely death, succeed.
