Dolly Parton says Elle King ‘just had a little too much to drink’ at slurred, profane Grand Ole Opry tribute

Elle is a really great artist, she’s a great girl and she’s been going through a lot of hard things lately, and she just had a little too much to drink,” Parton told ExtraTV on Friday.   

“So let’s just forgive that and forget it and move on because she felt worse than anybody ever could,” Parton said.   

King made news when she slurred, forgot songs, and cussed onstage at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry with other singers  

At the show, King mispronounced the lyrics to Parton's song "Marry Me" as "I don't give an s---" and "I don't know the lyrics in this f---ing town.

She said, “Hi, my name is Elle King and I'm f---ing hammered  

Elle King stated, “Hi, my name is Elle King and I'm f---ing hammered  

The Opry apologized on X, stating, “We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance
