Final thoughts on Man United 2-2 Liverpool: optimism, finishing, and ongoing issues

Sunday's loss at Old Trafford cost Liverpool two crucial Premier League points.

United struck twice from nowhere after Luis Diaz gave them the lead, and Mohamed Salah's penalty drew them.

The overall performance was good for long stretches, but as in the FA Cup game, our weaknesses returned.

Mac Allister was the best player on the pitch again, as usual, but he was the only one who was truly great.

Diaz was good, and his attacking numbers have improved in recent months. Van Dijk was impressive again.

Harvey Elliott has been great off the bench all season and made a big difference.

Endo and Szoboszlai struggled, the latter for a while, and Mohamed Salah was ineffective except for his penalty.

Nunez gave little on a day when his raw personality proved bothersome.
