At CinemaCon 2024, Universal Pictures showcased a number of titles, one of which being the film Wicked, based on the Broadway musical.

Taking the stage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on April 10, Erivo, 37, and Grande, 30, who portray "Wicked Witch" Elphaba and "Good Witch" Glinda, respectively, presented a luxurious sneak peek of the first film.

Producer Marc Platt and director Jon M. Chu were also there, along with actors Jonathan Bailey (Fiyero), Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible), and Jeff Goldblum (the Wizard).

The Tony-winning musical Wicked, created by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, will be adapted into a two-part film.

On November 27, 2025, Part One will be released, and on November 26, 2025, Part Two will follow.

In his address to the assembly, Chu (44 years old) drew inspiration from the narrative of Elphaba, the witch whose beauty was scrutinized.

The director of In the Heights referred to directing Wicked as "a dream job."
