Kevin Costner Wants to Return to ‘Yellowstone’ to ‘Close the Series Properly’ After Creator Dispute

Yellowstone fans have been waiting since 2022 for the second half of the series' last season.

Sources tell Life & Style that Kevin Costner, who reportedly quit the smash western after clashing with creator Taylor Sheridan, wants to give his character, John Dutton, a dignified send-off.

"He'd like to close the series properly so he can move on and feel good about it," says a source close to the situation.

The 69-year-old's return is not guaranteed, however. According to the insider, Kevin not only irritated Taylor,

53, but also his co-stars when he requested more money and a lighter schedule. "A lot of the cast and crew blame Kevin for getting the show canceled," the insider adds.

"It might have gone on another season or two if he hadn't made such a stink."

Not only that, but scripts would need to be rewritten to accommodate him. Taylor may yet give in, according to the insider. "He'll do what's best for Yellowstone."

Kevin has portrayed John in Yellowstone since 2018. However, in February 2023, it was rumored that the Field of Dreams actor

was leaving the program owing to scheduling conflicts. The network dismissed the rumors in a statement at the time.

"Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone, and we hope that's the case for a long time to come," a representative said.
