Lumberjack the Monster: Takashi Miike serial killer film is coming to Netflix

Takashi Miike, a Japanese filmmaker, has over 115 directing credits to his name, a feat he accomplished in just 33 years.  

One of his most recent credits was on a blood-soaked horror movie called Lumberjack the Monster, and Rue Morgue has confirmed that it will be available on Netflix starting June 1st.  

Before the film is released on Netflix, the North American premiere will take place on Monday, May 6 at 8 p.m. at New York City's Japan Society (333 East 47th Street).  

According to Rue Morgue, "there will be a pre-screening reception at 7pm with beverages donated by Sapporo-Stone Brewing and Brooklyn Kura.  

" The screening is being held in conjunction with the Tribeca Film Festival's Escape from Tribeca event.  

Lumberjack the Monster is based on Mayusuke Kurai's novel and features Kazuya Kamenashi, Nanao, Riho Yoshioka, Shota Sometani, and Shido Nakamura.   

The film's description is as follows: This cat-and-mouse hunt between a serial killer and a lawyer on his trail is full of gory killings, missing brains, and terrifying revelations.    

The most disturbing? The attorney is a psychopath. Takashi Miike's latest nightmare is a horrific confrontation between a serial killer and a psychotic lawyer. It's a bloody great time.
