NFL News: Jets acquire star defensive player in big trade with Philadelphia Eagle

The New York Jets recently completed an unexpected deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Aaron Rodgers will be delighted.

The top quarterback was hurt in the opener against the Bills in 2023, and given his age, his chances of making it to the Super Bowl may be limited.

That's why general manager Joe Douglas and head coach Robert Saleh have already made two significant offensive additions to assist Aaron Rodgers: wide receiver Mike Williams and offensive lineman Tyrone Smith.

However, defense has been the team's defining feature. Now, in one of the more stunning moves in NFL free agency, the New York Jets have made a massive deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Haason Reddick will be the Jets' new player following a trade with the Eagles. In exchange for the pass rusher, Philadelphia will receive a conditional third-round pick in 2026.

The Jets had to make this move since they had already lost Bryce Huff to free agency. Reddick has the fifth highest sack total (52) over the last five seasons, trailing only TJ Watt (76.5), Myles Garrett (68), and Trey Hendrickson (57.5).

After acquiring Haason Reddick, the New York Jets have made an amazing series of free agent signings: WR Mike Williams, OT Tyron Smith, G John Simpson, OT Morgan Moses, DT Javon Kinlaw, DT Leki Fotu, CB Isaiah Oliver, and QB Tyrod Taylor.
