Patrick Mahomes’ Dad Pat Mahomes Sr. Formally Charged With Felony DWI After Arrest

Patrick Mahomes' father, Pat Mahomes Sr., has been officially charged with driving while intoxicated.

Texas prosecutors accused Pat, 53, with felony DWI on Wednesday, April 3, according to TMZ. If convicted, the retired athlete could face up to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Pat was arrested in Tyler, Texas, in February for driving while inebriated. He allegedly had "a visible open container of an alcoholic beverage" in his vehicle and "

"admitted to having consumed alcoholic beverages," according to a copy of the incident report obtained by Us Weekly. A field sobriety test was performed at the site.

Pat was jailed in the Smith County Jail on $10,000 bail and released later that day.

Patrick discussed his father's incarceration prior of the Super Bowl."He's doing well." I don't want to go into too much detail, but he's doing well given the circumstances," he told reporters on February 5.

 "It's a family affair, therefore I'll keep it inside the family. That's all I have to say at this time."

Pat has now been charged with driving while intoxicated six times. Pat was charged twice in 2018, and his fifth drunk driving offense in 2019 resulted in jail time. He later finished a 40-day sentence through a weekend work release program.
