Why Maren Morris Missed the 2024 CMT Awards Despite Nomination

Maren Morris skipped the 2024 CMT Music Awards despite being nominated. 

On Sunday, Morris, 33, announced on Instagram Stories that she will be in New York City and not attend Kelsea Ballerini's annual country music awards show at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

"After releasing her new children's book Addie Ant Goes on an Adventure, the singer-songwriter released a video. 

A September episode of CMT Crossroads featured Morris and Hozier performing his smash track , 

"Take Me to Church," which earned them a 2024 CMT Music Award nomination for CMT performance of the year. 

She skipped the awards show after announcing her September 2023 retirement from country music. Her two-track EP The Bridge, comprising "The Tree" and "Get the Hell Out of Here," signaled the transformation. 

Morris said she felt “very, very distanced” from the industry and its politics and frustrated at challenging the established quo.
